N3 East, Town Hill, PMB, Risk Factors & Speed Analysis of Commercial Vehicles

Traffic on the N3 in this area can reach 1,500 vehicles per hour, needless to say that is a substantial figure on any road and in any country. We wrote previously on, “The nature of our land’s topography, extending from Johannesburg to Durban, along what is arguably the lifeblood and key artery of the N3, is by any stretch of the imagination, a testing route”. There is arguably no more testing section on the N3 than that of the approximate 10.2-kilometers from Hilton Avenue Bridge to the Chase Valley Road Bridge. Once again, we repeat the comment that “this is especially so where a commercial driver may be inexperienced, arrogant, or perhaps driving a vehicle that is mechanically inefficient”.
